The three-day inaugural Global Silicon Valley x Penn State event explored the positive impacts of advancing artificial intelligence (AI) through education, economic development, and innovation.

The Readiness Institute at Penn State Summer Discovery will continue in 2025 for 12 rising high school seniors from Cambria and Somerset Counties, in part because of a $40,000 grant provided by the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies.

Alexandria Rhoads, an aerospace engineering student in Penn State’s College of Engineering, said the Readiness Institute Summer Discovery set her up for success as a person. Rhoads was part of the cohort that attended the summer program during its inaugural year in 2021.

Penn State Readiness Institute’s Summer Discovery program is back for 2024, and students and moderators alike are learning from the experience.

Emma Hance, program manager and strategic planning specialist for the Readiness Institute at Penn State, and Christopher Robinson, assistant professor of social work and director of the bachelor of social work program at Penn State Greater Allegheny, are among Pittsburgh Magazine’s 40 Under 40 for 2023.

Readiness Institute will be hosting Penn State Day at Moonshot Museum to celebrate launching the Hope Moonshot project to the moon.
