Code of Conduct for Summer Discovery

  1. Participants are required to be within eyesight and within hearing distance of two authorized adults (program staff) at all times.
  2. Participants must ask for permission before leaving the group for any reason.
  3. Participants must be punctual and arrive to activities on time. Attendance will be taken.
  4. Participants may not leave the Readiness Institute space unless it is part of the program schedule.
  5. Misuse or damage of University property is prohibited. Charges will be assessed against those participants who are responsible for damage or misuse of University property.
  6. The possession or use of tobacco products, e-cigarettes, vaping devices, alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, guns, pocketknives, fireworks, or other weapons is prohibited.
  7. No theft of property, food, or medication, regardless of owner, will be tolerated.
  8. All medications, including over-the counter medications, must be turned in to program staff during check-in. Participants must manage their own medication schedule and will not receive reminders from staff.
  9. Participants are not allowed to share medication.
  10. Program staff are prohibited from administering medication.
  11. The operation of a motor vehicle by minors is prohibited while attending and participating in the program. Participants may drive to and from the program provided authorization is given on the registration form.
  12. Participants should not let cell phone use be a distraction during lessons.
  13. Participants may not access inappropriate internet content on any University-owned or personal computers, phones, or other devices.
  14. Hazing of any kind is prohibited. Bullying, including verbal, physical, and cyber bullying, is prohibited.
  15. No violence, including sexual abuse or harassment, will be tolerated.
  16. The inappropriate use of cameras, imaging, and digital devices is prohibited, including use of such devices in showers, restrooms, or other areas where privacy is expected by participants.
  17. Participants must receive consent before making any statements or actions to pursue a romantic relationship with another person at the Readiness Institute. Romantic relationships may not extend beyond handholding and referring to each other as significant other.
  18. When participating in a virtual Zoom session:
    1. Appropriate dress is required.
    2. The use of virtual backgrounds is prohibited. Participants should find a space with a neutral background that is unobstructed by objects that could be deemed inappropriate or reveal private/sensitive information about the participant and that cannot be interfered with or interrupted by others.
    3. Parents/Guardians must make arrangements for the child to attend every day of the program and be on time and prepared.
  19. Requests for accommodations must be submitted to program staff at least two weeks prior to the start of the program.
