Awards Presented by the Readiness Institute

The Stanley Thompson Future Ready Leader of the Year Award

The Stanley Thompson Future Ready Leader of the Year Award recognizes an individual who demonstrates a commitment to innovative thinking, learner-centered design, and leadership in the Pittsburgh education community. It was established in 2021 and is named in honor of Readiness Institute pioneer Dr. Stan Thompson.

  • 2024 Recipient: Dr. Tom Butler, executive director at AIU8
  • 2023 Recipient: Josiah Gilliam, executive director at PUMP
  • 2022 Recipient: Sam Moore, managing director at the Missouri Historical Society (previously executive director at the Moonshot Museum)
  • 2021 Recipient: Mark Cuban, businessman, investor, and philanthropist

The Tracey DeBlase Huston Community Leader of the Year Award

The Tracey DeBlase Huston Community Leader of the Year Award recognizes an individual who demonstrates a commitment to the Pittsburgh community through education, service, and leadership. It was established in 2021 and is named after Readiness Institute collaborator Tracey Huston.

  • 2024 Recipient: Nayli Russo, founder and CEO of Russo Leadership
  • 2023 Recipient: Delvina Morrow, vice president of Community Affairs and DEI at Pittsburgh Penguins
  • 2022 Recipient: Angela Mike, executive director of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) division of the Pittsburgh Public School District
  • 2021 Recipient: Esther Wojcicki, journalist, educator, vice chair of Creative Commons advisory council
